NORAMOJI Project(Japan)

Activities were commenced in 2013 by Rintaro Shimohama, Naoki Nishimura, Shinya Wakaoka and others. They named the unique letters remaining on the signboards in old townscapes "Noramoji", and they proactively discover the charm of antiques and folk art from the graphic design and materials that have been exposed to the weather and changed over time. With the cooperation of the store owners who own the signs, they analyzed the shape of the letters, then extended them to the Japanese syllabary typeface and made them usable as fonts, rediscovering their appeal.
