Many things wash up on the shores of Suzu. Bottles of liquor containing pit vipers that arrive from the coast, bones of all kinds of animals that float ashore and are left to the elements This flotsam has given the artist ideas. He wonders why so much of it washes up here. Do these drifters seek it out as a destination? Since long ago, people have thought of this place as somewhere the remains of animals gather. The work “Bottle ship” resembles a rescue boat or spirit ship that saves or comforts the remains of the animals washing up on these burial grounds.

Masayoshi Koyama creates works based on the perspective of a traveler. In the places he visits as an "outsider", he has a deep empathy for the things that are left behind that ordinary people usually do not find.
He uses a wide variety of expressions, from small handmade souvenirs to giant three-dimensional objects that look like they embody objects of legend. His works appear in shabby, rundown places, clad in the sensation of little-spoken-of ancient beliefs and festivals.
